The SDC-2060 is 16-bit Synchro-to-Digital Converter with an RS422 serial output that represents the synchro input angle from 0 to 359.99 degrees. Originally designed to convert the synchro output of a ship’s gyrocompass to a NMEA-0183 HDT message for connection to a Shipboard Electro-Optical Surveillance System, the SDC-2060 can be used as a general purpose Synchro-to-NMEA converter. The SDC-2060 is available for a wide range of synchro input voltages and frequencies and supports numerous serial output protocols.
The power supply and synchro input circuitry are designed to meet the requirements of MIL-STD-1399 Section 300 for ship’s power systems. An EMI/RFI shielded enclosure and I/O filtering are used to ensure the SDC complies with the applicable sections of MIL-STD-461 for conducted and radiated emissions and susceptibility. A toggle switch on the front of the SDC enclosure allows the SDC to be electrically disconnected from the synchro signal inputs to facilitate fault isolation
